lundy

island

Lundy Island, from the Old Norse "Lund-ey" meaning Puffin Island, has been a sanctuary for marauders and monks over the centuries. It was a private kingdom, and a simple retreat, each era leaving behind a faint, beautiful mark on the landscape.
Today it is a nature reserve and sanctuary for puffin colonies, remaining a little visited corner of Devon county.
